Mexican mariachi and Spaghetti Western fantasy fuzz

The genre-bending Carnivorous Plant Society play lush, orchestral pop that has drawn comparison with The Able Tasmans, David Axelrod & Calexico. Comprising of band members from Tiny Ruins, Bic Runga, Neil Finn and Lawrence Arabia, the group's shows are a treat not just for the ears but the eyes too, as the quintet is accompanied by video creations from the band's main songwriter and co-founder Finn Scholes.

They will be performing songs from their freshly released second album The New King, as well as alternative-radio-high-rotates like “Françoise Hardy” and “Slave Song”.

Broadcaster John Campbell once described their music as a “shining, uplifting delight” while they describe their style as Mexican mariachi and Spaghetti Western, with a dash of fantasy and the bizarre, creating spine-chills and warm fuzz feels.
