Smokin' hot jazz in decadent lounge bar heaven

It's High Society night at The Sparrow. In a raunchy, tight and intimate show, American-trained vocalist Nicole Chesterman-Kircher delivers the traditions of jazz sprinkled with swing, lounge, bop, bossa and contemporary flavours with some of the busiest heavy weight jazz cats of the Wellington scene: Greg Crayford, Phil Costello, Bob Keeton, Mike Duffy, Matty Enright and Nils Olsen.

Step back into the decadent ambience of the classic 1930s where literature and music intertwine in this stunning lounge bar in the basement of the capital's heritage-listed Embassy Theatre. It oozes sophistication, inventively divine cocktails, sensual fare and applauded internationally by its cult followers.

Fresh from their sell-out residency at the Cabana for Napier's 30th Anniversary of the Art Deco Festival and their stand-out appearance as a headline act at the National Jazz Festival in Tauranga, High Society is not only smoking hot but a powerhouse of live jazz performance. This team of players have gained strength not only in numbers but by the very individuals in their prestigious co-operative of musicians.

With years of experience under their belts both at national and international level, these performers and educators deliver a passionate and explosive love for their art attributing the legendary jazz geniuses of the planet with a genuinely entertaining and personality driven show.

Starring: Nicole Chesterman Kircher (vocals), "The Professor" Greg Crayford (drums), "The Reverend" Phil Costello (sax, conga), "Falcon" Bob Keeton (keys), "Mad Dog" Mike Duffy  (double-bass), "Sick Dog" Matty Enright (trumpet), "Clooney" Nils Olsen (sax and clarinet).
